A church in the Douglass-North Central neighborhood knows some of its members might not have an Easter lunch on Sunday, April 24, so it will be providing meals.

Chosen Generation Ministries, 611 N. Garth Ave. hosts a free luncheon on the last Sunday of every month. The Rev. Lorenzo Lawson said the congregation includes people from homeless shelters, the women’s shelter and addiction recovery programs who might not get back to facilities in time for lunch.

“Jesus always fed people when they were hungry,” Lawson said. “We try to make sure we can feed some of those who may not get a lunch, and also have an opportunity to enjoy one another in fellowship, talk and have a good time.”

Chosen Generations Ministries is one of many area churches hosting special activities and services in the Douglass-North Central neighborhood in honor of Easter Sunday. Columbia Parks and Recreation will also organize activities and an egg hunt in Douglass Park on Saturday, April 23.
