Parkade Elementary recognizes volunteers with breakfast

Parkade Elementary’s third annual volunteer breakfast was held from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday, April 14, in one of the school’s classrooms. The school hosted the breakfast to pay tribute to its 65 volunteers — some parents and others volunteers from different organizations.

“We wanted to find a way to celebrate the people that come into our school and do so much for us, and decided (the breakfast) was the best way to do it,” said Vice Principal Carrie Freeman.

Some of the organizations that benefit from volunteer work at Parkade Elementary include:

  • Jumpstart
  • A Way with Words and Numbers
  • Foster Grandparents
  • Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students)
  • Partners in Education: Commerce Bank, Parkade Baptist Church, Chevy’s and Office Depot
  • Room parents
  • PTA

Volunteers were presented with an appreciation gift — a planner and a candy bar. Students also made cards and pictures for the volunteers.
