The loose change and efforts of  Benton Elementary Schools students, teachers and families has added up. Benton began raising money for the people of Japan a month ago in response to the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan March 11.

Between two fundraisers, Jeans for Japan — teachers donated $5 to wear jeans —  and collecting loose change, the school has raised $3,230 as of April 15. Donations from Mill Creek and Cedar Ridge Elementary schools are still coming in.

After all the money is collected, the school will make a check out for “The People of Japan” to the American Red Cross.
