Grace Bible Church held a fundraiser Sunday evening, Feb. 20, at McAlister’s Deli. The church is raising money to send nine college students to the Passion Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, April 1-3.

The restaurant donated all tips and 15 percent of sales to the church from 5 to 9 p.m. Associate Pastor Rob Pilant said a lot of people showed up and more than $500 was raised. Grace is hoping to raise $2,200 in all.

The Georgia-based Passion Conferences began in 1997 under the direction of Louie Giglio with the goal of starting a spiritual awakening among college students. At each conference, more than  10,000 college students between ages 18 and 25 are brought together for three to four days of speakers, worship, and small group discussions.

The conference website describes it’s purpose this way: “At the heart of it all, Passion exists to see a generation stake their lives on what matters most.”
