Want your house to be recognized for its Christmas décor?
The Douglass Park Neighborhood Association, Douglass High School and the community recreation division of Columbia Parks and Recreation will host an annual Christmas lights competition from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19.
Seven areas within the bounds of Rangeline Street, Tenth Street, West Boulevard and Business Loop 70 will be judged and awarded for “making the community look good for Christmas,” said Bill Thompson, recreation specialist and one of the organizers of the event.
No registration is required; residents are asked only to leave their house lights on during the hours of the competition, Thompson said.
“Some people go all out,” he said. “That’s why no one can win two years in a row.”
The awards ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, in the Douglass High School gymnasium.
