Looking for something to do before the holidays? Check out these featured programs at the Columbia Public Library.

Tuesday, Dec. 14: Missouri Building Block Story Time

The Missouri Library Association will host a reading of books nominated for this year’s Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award for children ages 3 to 5. Children can vote for the best picture book, and the winning author and illustrator will be presented the award. The reading will be held in the program room from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 14: Book release and signing

The library invited local historian and author Warren Dalton to share his newest book, Between the Columns, a collection of newspaper columns he wrote about downtown Columbia. The talk and book signing afterward will be held at 7 p.m. in the Friends Room.

Wednesday, Dec. 15: Missouri Building Block Story Time

Another reading for the Missouri Bulding Block Picture Book Award will be held in the Program Room from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 15: A Christmas Story

The library will host a screening of the film “A Christmas Story” in the Friends Room from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 16: Twitter 101

The library will host a talk on using Twitter from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Training Center.
