The MU Museum of Art and Archaeology will sponsor a workshop for those interested in Chinese brush painting from 2-3:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 12.

Attendees will work with artist and MU professor Lampo Leong.

Leong said he agreed to participate to increase awareness of Asian art in the MU Art Department.

“I think it’s very important for MU to recognize the different types of art in this world,” Leong said. “They don’t even have an Asian art history class. It is definitely missing a lot, so I’m glad that they recognize that and are starting to work on it.”

Leong will present techniques and the philosophy behind them, both rooted in Chinese culture.

There are 20 available spots, and participants must register by before Dec. 10.

Those wishing to attend can call 573-882-9498 or email: fabacherb@missouri.edu.
