Columbia Access Television and “We Always Swing” Jazz series telethon

Columbia Access Television and “We Always Swing” Jazz Series are teaming up for a live telethon Dec. 11 from 3 to 9 p.m.

The two non-profit organizations are have put together the fund-raiser to help support their two respective missions: jazz and independent media.

The telethon will have live music segments, local personalities and hand-picked host pairings, along with gift certificates, music lessons, CDs, and other items donated by local businesses, according to a press release.

Jon Poses, Jazz Series executive director, said in the release that he was looking for a way to collaborate with fellow non-profit organizations and to approach new ways of fund-raising.

CAT-TV will oversee production of the show, while the Jazz Series will be coordinate the performances.

During the six-hour airing, people will be able to donate money by either making pledges over the phone or going to the PayPal accounts of either CAT and the Jazz Series.
