It’s the time of year for hayrides, bonfires and falling leaves. It’s also the start of flu season and flu vaccinations.
According to the Boone County Health Department website, this year’s vaccine protects against three different flu strains, including H1N1. Previously the traditional flu vaccine was given separately from the H1N1 vaccine.
This means less time, money and one less stick in the arm. The following pharmacies are offering the vaccine for $30.
- Where? Walgreens at the corner of Forum and Nifong. When? Shots are given any time the pharmacy is open, and there is no appointment necessary. The pharmacy is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
- Where? HyVee, 405 East Nifong. When? Shots are available anytime during the day and appointments are unnecessary.
- Where? Providence Urgent Care, 202 E. Nifong. When? From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Mondays through Sundays. Appointments may be made but aren’t necessary.
