Blue Ridge Elementary hosts Math Night

Blue Ridge Elementary School is hosting its second annual Math Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 19, for parents and students.

Jill Edwards, second-grade teacher and one of the event coordinators, said there will be a variety of activities for the students based on grade level. Each grade level will host a different math game.

There will be door prizes and estimation jars about which students can guess the number of items inside. Food will be served in the cafeteria.

Edwards said Math Night is one of the largest parent involvement activities the school hosts. She also said this is a wonderful way to show parents what their children are learning in school and get them involved.

“We want to get our families excited about math and encourage them to do simple activities at home,” Edwards said.

Math is one of the biggest focuses in the curriculum at Blue Ridge.
