Homecoming week schedule at Columbia College

Welcome to Las Vegas! is the theme this year for Homecoming Week at Columbia College.

A schedule of the week’s activities:

  • A Ghost Tour from 8-10 p.m. Wed. Oct. 13 will discuss some of Columbia College’s oldest legends and superstitions. Students are encouraged to bring a can good to contribute to the Nursing School’s Food Drive to take the tour. People can meet at the Atkins-Holman Student Commons Information Desk to be a part of the tour.
  • A Barbecue will commence at 6 p.m. Thurs. Oct. 14 on Miller Lawn with a bonfire to follow.
  • The Ryan Schmidt Memorial Blood Drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri. Oct. 15 on the Southwell Courts.
  • The Fall Formal will be held at Tiger Hotel from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. Fri. Oct. 15. Tickets are $15 for individuals or $20 per couple and can be purchased through the Campus Life office.
  • The Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in the Banquet Room of Dulany Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. Fri. Oct. 15.
  • The Alumni Baseball Reunion Social will commence at 7 p.m. Fri. Oct. 15 at the Stoney Creek Inn.
  • The Class of 1980 Reunion will commence at 7 p.m. Fri. Oct. 15 at the Stoney Creek Inn.

Saturday Oct. 16, or Family Day, will also host an array of activities on Columbia College’s campus.

  • A 5K Run/Walk for Rainbow House will commence registration at 7:30 a.m. at Cosmo Park. The cost to participate is $10 and includes a gift for participants.
  • The Alpha Chi Induction Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the Dorsey Chapel, located on Dorsey Hall’s second floor.
  • The alumni softball game will commence at 11 a.m. on the Cougars softball field. The current Cougars softball team will be matched up against alumni, including alumnus current head coach Wendy Spratt, for nine innings.
  • The alumni volleyball game will commence at noon on the court in the Southwell Complex.
  • The Elysium Players, Columbia College’s drama club,will perform under a tent on Miller Lawn from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the direction of Nollie Moore. The content of the performance will be family-friendly.
  • The Norm Reubling Band will perform motown, funk and blues from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Dulany Hall lawn.
  • The Southy Fitness Center will be open to the public for tours from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
  • Jane Froman Singers Alumni Reunion & Concert will be at 2 p.m. on the Atkins-Holman Student Commons lawn.
  • The Columbia College cougars will face the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans for a soccer match at 3 p.m. on the R. Marvin Owens soccer field. Admittance to the game is free.
  • An alumni women’s basketball game will be held at 6 p.m. in the arena of Southwell Complex.
  • An alumni men’s basketball game will be held at 7 p.m. at the same location.
