College Park Christian Academy’s seventh through ninth grade students are hitting the road today for camp.
Junior Bible Camp will take place at Camp Heritage, located on the Lake of the Ozarks. The group will depart at 2 p.m. and return around noon Sunday.
Fifty to 60 students from 12 to 15 schools from Iowa and Missouri will attend Camp Heritage for Bible camp. Nine students from College Park Christian Academy will have the opportunity to socialize with students from other Christian schools.
The Iowa-Missouri Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church organizes the Bible camp to allow schools from all over the area to attend.
Stan Michael teaches seventh, eighth and ninth graders at College Park Christian Academy. He is traveling with the students to Camp Heritage as a chaperone and has held this position for four years.
Michael said the camp allows students to experience spiritual things outside of the classroom.
“They get to see it’s not just about school and church,” he said. “Our God is a God of nature as well as the Christian church.”
Students will participate in outdoor activities, team building exercises, Bible studies and a mini-worship service geared toward their age group.
