Dunn Up BBQ from Kansas City has competed in the Roots N’ Blues ‘N’ BBQ Festival barbecue competition since the festival began four years ago.
Last year, Dunn Up placed tenth in the dessert category, and in 2008, they were in the top 10 for pork.
They hope to place in the top 10 again this year. The Dunn Up team is made up of Mark Huffhines, Kurt and Betty Dunn and Stan Parks. Parks was designated as the guy for the judges to turn to, Huffhines said.
The team has turned in their ribs, pulled pork, chicken and brisket so far this afternoon. Judging for the barbeque competition is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
