Grindstone Parkway residents to sell property in auction


A real estate auction will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.  The auction will occur on site at 3310 Forest Drive.

The auction includes 1.5 acres and the house on the property.  Kurt Hollenberg, United Country Missouri Land & Home, said that the land is zoned R-3, or the owner is able to build a single family home, apartments or condos.

According to Hollenberg the owner of the property, Warren Ranard, wants to move from this location because of the high amount of traffic on Grindstone Parkway.

According to a previous Columbia Missourian article, the Red Oak Investment Company plans to install a traffic light on the intersection opposite to Grindstone Plaza Drive. The light will be at the intersection of Grindstone Parkway and Grindstone Plaza Drive.  The goal is to slow down the traffic on Grindstone Parkway.

Scott Bitterman, traffic engineer in the Public Works Department, said that the it has not been installed yet. Tim Teddy, director of the Planning Department, confirmed that the plans for the traffic light have been approved by the Missouri Department of Transportation but a installation date has not been set.

Shop owners and the owners of the land across from the shopping center requested the traffic light, Teddy said.  It would also “provide better access to parcels on both sides,” he said.
