Missouri’s cotton industry is set to take center stage at the University of Missouri’s campus this week for the 2010 Mizzou Textile and Apparel Management Sustainable Cotton Summit.
People from all areas of the industry will be in attendance, from growers to companies that genetically engineer seeds.
The conference is designed to expose people, especially college students, to the concept of sustainability.
“We are going to explore the whole supply chain from fiber to consumer,” said Pamela Norum, associate professor in MU’s Department of Textile and Apparel Management said in an MU press release.
“What are the different types of businesses that touch the product and what are they doing to be more sustainable? What efforts are being made along the supply chain to help the sustainability of cotton products?”
The event will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, with no cost to attend.
