Construction continues for the Broadway Sidewalk project, with work now underway near Tellers Gallery & Bar.
The project is replacing the sidewalks along Broadway, as well as new utilities and water lines beneath them, said Jill Stedem, public information specialist for Columbia Public Works.
The new water main has been installed, said Connie Kacprowicz of Columbia Water and Light.
Reconstruction of the south sidewalk on Broadway between Eighth and Ninth streets began two weeks ago, according to a press release from the city of Columbia Public Works Department.
The parking spaces next to the sidewalk will be closed, but pedestrians will be able to access the surrounding businesses. J.C. Industries Inc. of Jefferson City, which is working on the sidewalk, plans to complete construction by Oct. 12.
