In central-Missouri, Jack Frost doesn’t have to be nipping at your nose for you to find a chestnut roast.
Saturday, Oct. 16, marks the eighth annual Missouri Chestnut Roast at the MU Horticulture and Agroforestry Research Center in New Franklin, Mo. The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
Guests can tour the 1819 Hickman House, the research farm and vineyard. Activities for children will also be available.
Visitors can expect to find an array of Missouri specialty products to sample and purchase from vendor booths, as well as demonstrations, exhibits, and live music by Nine Mile Band.
Admission and parking are free. Directions can be found at the center’s website.
The center is also open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
