Christine Simon, the Crossing Kids director at Crossing Church, will hold the Crossing Kids Fall Training on September 8 from 7-8 p.m. Students from grades 6th-12th are encouraged to participate as Junior Helpers, and individuals who are college-aged or older are also welcomed with open arms.
There are approximately 300 volunteers that participate in the Crossing Kids program, which serves 500 kids every Sunday. At this training, volunteers will learn about the Crossing Kid’s vision and values. Volunteers will serve at least two services a month for one section, which lasts approximately four months.
Volunteers will be serving in a classroom during Sunday morning service, a portion of the 300 volunteers will be serving on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and at s six main family events a year. The first family event, Fall Fest, will be held October 3 4-7 p.m. at Shryocks Callaway Farm. New to the Crossing Kids program is the Thanksgiving service that will invite families to a Sunday night service geared for families to give thanks together.
Services that the Crossing Kids have performed in the past include making blankets that were distributed to children in Africa, painting bags for kids in Jamaica. These bags were delivered and distributed by Crossing Church’s high school students. In addition to these services, Crossing Church also holds a golf tournament every June at Lake of the Woods Golf Course to benefit Granny’s House, a place where public housing kids are able to come to experience the kindness and love of God.
Those interested in participating in the fall training must RSVP by September 3. Those new members who are not able to make the training on September 8 will need to attend the make up training session on September 12 from 12-12:30 p.m. Contact Christine Simon via e-mail to RSVP or for more information at Christine@thecrossingchurch.com.
