Summer may be fast approaching, but school’s still in session. Don’t forget to mark your calendar with these upcoming events at Russell Boulevard Elementary School.
Friday, May 7, 2 p.m.
Walk-a-thon. Russell Boulevard will hold its second walk-a-thon to raise money for field trips and technology. Participants will gather briefly in the school gym for a kick-off assembly. Immediately following the assembly, students, faculty and parents who have submitted pledge forms and money will spend one hour walking around the school’s new track. Contact the school office for more information about the event, 214-3650.
Tuesday, May 11, 6:30 p.m.
Family fitness night. Russell families are invited to the last fitness night of the school year, which will include “Family Recess” and a presentation of fitness trophies.
Friday, May 14
Mrs. Gardner Day. Assistant principal Ruth Gardner will retire at the end of this school year. The entire Russell community is invited to participate in events scheduled throughout the day, including:
- Walk to school from the Activity and Recreation Center, 8:10 a.m. Gardner will meet students at the ARC and accompany them on a one-mile walk to Russell.
- Retirement reception, 4:30-6 p.m. Students and their families are invited to celebrate the many years of service Gardner has given to the school. All students must be accompanied by an adult.

Monday, May 31
Memorial Day. School closed.
Friday, June 4
Last day of school. School will dismiss at 1:15 p.m.
