Broadway Christian Church will host a Mexico-themed fundraising dinner on Friday, March 5. The dinner is open to the public, and the money raised will be used to help fund a youth mission trip during which participants will help build small houses for people who are either homeless or in poor living conditions in Matamoros, Mexico.
The group will build homes as part of a program called the Casita Project. Particpating teens will stay in Los Fresnos, Texas, and cross the border every day into Matamoros, where they will help build “casitas,” which in Spanish means small houses.
The mission team will serve dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. The event will also have activities until 8 p.m. including Wii bowling, a cake walk and pin the tail on the donkey. The mission team requests a donation of $8 per person and $5 for children age 10 and under. Broadway Christian Church is located at 2601 W. Broadway in Columbia. The dinner will be held in the church’s fellowship hall.
